What Is Your Heart’s Deepest Longing…
What is your hearts deepest longing? What is it that you really yearn for? Don’t hurry. Go slowly and feel your way into this question. Keep attention from being distracted otherwise the thinking mind will prevent you, yet again, from living the answer. This question is important. Answering it means the end of war. Not the end of conflict, but the end of war and the discovery of true equanimity—your natural inheritance.
Heed the call that is beckoning you to the place you’ve never left, to the utter simplicity of being ‘Just This’—pure Being—your nearest. Be absorbed into your timeless Being, which is independent of body, mind, senses and the ego-I thought. Don’t mistake this for a passive state. Living as timeless Being restores your body, mind, senses and the ego-I to their proper functioning, and awakens you to knowing yourself as ‘This’ that is beyond division, and everything not-separate. We call this ‘Love.’ And when we live our non-separateness, compassionate kindness awakens—fully alive, fully participatory—‘Thy will’ in action. How marvelous! How wondrous! How visionary. Our Vision: We support all who aspire to awaken to the mystery of Being that underlies all of life. Our Mission: We help people resolve their profound suffering and experience deep healing and peace. Please join me in moving this vision of the Center of Timeless Being forward.
I hope you will take delight in the coming months to steep in these precious teachings through our retreats and trainings. And if you are so moved, and I hope you will be, your kind donations enable us to touch the lives of people from all walks of life, young and old, from the homeless to veterans, to children and the elderly who would otherwise be unable to participate in our offerings. Your help enables us to participate in research, studying the efficacy of our iRest teachings, and to develop programs such as our Veterans Helping Veterans, and Teacher and Diversity Scholarship programs, which are providing people access to our retreats and trainings who will in turn, take these timeless teachings to others in their communities throughout the world.
And speaking of community, I would like to welcome Allan Ainsworth as our newest member of the CTB Board of Directors. Allan is a medical anthropologist with a 12-year background in applied anthropology with the Arizona Hopi Tribe. He brings 20 years experience in the not-for-profit arena as CEO of a health care for homeless project in Salt Lake City, with 40 employees, 36 physician volunteers, and a $5.5 million annual budget. He also teaches in the School of Medicine at the U of Utah and is adjunct faculty with the Dept. of Anthropology.
Allan’s spiritual background includes a lifelong interest in yoga. Both he and his wife, Colette Herrick, certified as yoga teachers with Gary Kraftsow in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, which Richard also studied through his work with Desikachar. Their studies with Richard in the nondual teachings have brought them to consider him as their spiritual teacher. Before joining the board, Alan, along with Colette have served as CTB Stewards for three years. Allan wishes to use his experience managing a not-for-profit agency to further the work of the CTB Board, particularly in the areas of finance, operations, strategic planning, and research and grant writing.
I am also grateful for the continuing support of our Board of Directors, Council of Stewards, and staff (Kathleen McTeigue - office manager, Kirsten Guest - Certification, Kathleen Knipp - Staffing and Molly Birkholm/Jodi Ouellette - Directors of Research), our iRest mentors/supervisors, and the board of directors of the Center of Timeless Being Society in Canada (Ross and Kirsten Guest, Anne Douglas and Barbara Eastham) for their ongoing support, without whom we could not be bringing our good works into the world.
I would like to acknowledge and thank all of you who have stepped forward to help move our vision forward through your heartfelt support, donations and volunteer efforts. Know that you are in my heart and that we walk together. It takes a village to move a vision forward. I hope you will feel inspired to join us in community during the coming months.
With love and gratitude,
